Ametrine Crystal Chunks

The colour change is produced by variations in temperature and oxidation as the crystal formed—the same iron impurities that colour amethyst purple shifting to the warmer yellow of citrine where the stone met natural geothermal heat during its growth. Nearly all the world's natural ametrine comes from a single mine in Bolivia, the Anahí mine, first worked in the seventeenth century and held in folklore to have been gifted to a Spanish conquistador by his Ayoreo bride.

It is associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra of citrine and the Third Eye and Crown Chakras of amethyst in the Hindu and Vedic tradition—an unusual three-chakra pairing that gives the stone its characteristic feel of bridging worlds.
