When the familiar no longer reaches deep enough and we are ready for a richer kind of quiet, Auralite 23 is often the stone that answers. It is an amethyst at heart, found in the forests north of Lake Superior in Canada, but its purple is threaded with rusty reds and golds from the other minerals caught inside it as it grew, some 1.2 billion years ago, and its tips are often smoky. The 23 in its name is the number of minerals its discoverer reported finding within it.

Its story in the tradition is a recent one, and modern crystal practice links it with three centres of the Hindu and Vedic chakra system: the Crown Chakra and the Third Eye Chakra for awareness and insight, and the Heart Chakra for the warmth it brings to spiritual work.
