Properties & Traditions
Angelite has the soft, chalky blue of a sky just before dusk, a pale powdery stone that feels calm before anything is known about it. It is a form of compacted anhydrite, found mainly in Peru, and it carries a gentle, almost weightless quality that suits its name. That softness comes with a caution: angelite is anhydrite, and water will slowly turn it back toward gypsum, dissolving the very quality that makes it lovely. Its place in crystal practice is entirely modern, the name itself coined for the stone's association with serenity and the sense of a benevolent presence.
The modern tradition links it to the Throat, Third Eye, and Crown Chakras, the upper centres of the Hindu and Vedic chakra system, which govern communication, insight, and connection beyond the self.
In crystal practice today, angelite is held to be one of the most peaceful of the blue stones, calming anxiety and quieting a frightened mind, and supporting gentle, honest communication. It is associated with serenity, the easing of fear, and a feeling of being watched over during difficult passages. Many people reach for it when they need reassurance more than answers, a sense that they are not entirely alone with whatever they are carrying.

Our team's experience
Angelite has a stillness to it that people seem to feel in the hand. The blue is soft and matte rather than glassy, sometimes with faint white marbling, and the stone is noticeably light for its size. We offer it to people moving through fear or grief who are after comfort rather than energy, and it is one we handle carefully ourselves, because it marks and dissolves so easily. That fragility is part of its character; it asks to be treated gently, which is rather the point.
How our customers use it
Angelite often becomes a bedside or meditation stone, kept where its calm can be felt during anxious or grief-heavy seasons. Many people hold it during quiet practices focused on reassurance, prayer, or gentle communication, and some keep a piece beside them through sleepless nights. It is a popular companion for those who find comfort in a sense of presence or watchfulness, and smaller pieces are sometimes kept in a pocket, away from damp, as a quiet daily steadying stone.
Care notes
Angelite is soft (Mohs 3–3.5) and water-sensitive, since it is anhydrite and will slowly revert to gypsum if wetted. Never cleanse with water; use sound, moonlight, or smoke only. Keep it dry and away from harder stones, and handle gently, as the surface marks easily.
