Properties & Traditions
Amazonite is one of the stones people reach for when they have something to say and have been holding it back. A soft blue-green feldspar, somewhere between teal and the colour of weathered copper, it owes its name to the Amazon River, though the green stones the early traders named it for almost certainly came from elsewhere in South America. It has been worked since antiquity: the Egyptians carved it into beads, amulets, and inlay, and a scarab of amazonite was among the objects found in Tutankhamun's tomb. For all that history, its colour comes from traces of lead and water held within the feldspar structure, which is also why strong light can slowly fade it.
It is associated with both the Throat Chakra and the Heart Chakra in the Hindu and Vedic tradition, joining the throat's work of honest speech to the heart's softer knowing of what actually needs saying.
In the modern tradition, amazonite is turned to for steadying the nerves around difficult communication, for easing the anxiety that makes the words come out wrong or not at all, and for speaking one's truth with calm rather than heat. It is associated with confidence, the soothing of worry, and the quiet courage to set a boundary kindly. It is the stone for the conversation you have been rehearsing in your head for a week.

Our team's experience
Amazonite has a colour that reads differently in every light, more blue by a window, greener in the hand, sometimes with fine white veining running through it like cloud. People are drawn to it visually first and almost always ask what it is. We suggest it to those preparing for a hard conversation, a difficult email, an interview, anyone whose nerves tend to gather in the throat. It is a calm-feeling stone rather than a dramatic one, and that quiet steadiness is most of its appeal.
How our customers use it
Amazonite often becomes a stone kept close during periods that ask for honest speech, on a desk before difficult calls, in a pocket through an interview, beside a journal during writing that is hard to face. Many people hold it briefly before a conversation they have been dreading, as a small steadying ritual. It is a popular companion stone for those working on boundaries and clearer communication, and some wear it as jewellery near the throat where its blue-green sits well against the skin.
Care notes
Amazonite is moderately hard (Mohs 6–6.5) and a little more delicate than quartz, prone to chipping along its cleavage if knocked. Cleanse with sound, moonlight, or smoke; avoid prolonged water. Keep out of strong direct sunlight, which slowly fades the blue-green over time.
