Celestite, also called celestine, has a soft sky-blue that genuinely seems to belong to the heavens, which is exactly what its name means. It usually grows as clusters of delicate blue crystals lining the inside of a geode, palest powder-blue to a clearer ice-blue, and a good cluster has a gentle, almost luminous quality. A soft sulfate mineral, it is fragile and fades in strong light, a delicacy that suits its reputation as one of the most peaceful of all stones.
