Properties & Traditions
Blue Tiger Eye—also called Hawk's Eye—is the stone for those whose work asks them to see clearly without becoming hard about it. It is associated with the Throat Chakra and the Third Eye Chakra in the Hindu and Vedic tradition, the energy centres at the seats of true speech and clear seeing. Like all tiger eye, blue tiger eye is a pseudomorphic stone—originally a fibrous form of asbestos called crocidolite, slowly replaced by quartz over geological time, with the quartz preserving the fibrous structure as the characteristic chatoyancy. Where yellow tiger eye carries gold, blue tiger eye carries a deep slate-blue to steel-grey sheen that shifts dramatically as the stone is turned. The colour is genuinely natural, produced when the crocidolite was not fully replaced by quartz during the pseudomorphic process. The Romans associated all tiger eye with the way a predator sees—clearly, directly, without distraction.

In the crystal tradition today, blue tiger eye is the stone of clear communication and calm perception—quieter than its yellow sibling, less reactive. It is the stone for those who need to see a difficult situation clearly without becoming emotionally pulled into it, the stone for the difficult conversation where staying steady matters as much as being honest. It is held to support the work of the throat and eyes, the nervous system under stress, and the body's deeper rhythms of perceptual steadiness.
Our team's experience
Blue Tiger Eye has a depth that yellow tiger eye doesn't quite match. The colour is darker, cooler, and the chatoyancy moves slowly across the surface in a way that looks more like cloud-shadow than like fire. A good piece carries both qualities at once: the directness of the tiger eye family and the quieter perceptual feel of the deep blue. We tend to sell blue tiger eye to people in professional roles that require clear seeing under pressure—therapists, mediators, journalists, those involved in difficult workplace negotiations or family disputes.
How our customers use it
Blue Tiger Eye is often carried during work that asks for steady perception under emotional pressure—a tumble in the pocket through difficult meetings, a pendant worn during demanding conversations, a small piece on the desk during writing or analysis that has to stay clear-headed. Many people use it during practices focused on truthful speech and on seeing situations as they actually are rather than as one wishes them to be. It is also a popular companion stone for those working through difficult interpersonal patterns.
Care notes
Blue Tiger Eye is hard and stable (Mohs 7), and easy to care for. Cleanse with running water, sound, moonlight, or smoke. The chatoyancy and the blue colour are stable in normal light. Wipe with a soft cloth to maintain the polish.
