Properties & Traditions
Kunzite is a soft, luminous pink stone reached for in matters of the heart, particularly the gentle, vulnerable kind: opening up after hurt, softening toward oneself, letting love in rather than holding it at arm's length. It has a delicate, almost translucent colour, often shading from clear to a pale lilac-pink, and a soothing quality that people find calming as much as tender. Mineralogists know it as a pink variety of spodumene, a lithium-bearing silicate, the soft colour coming from traces of manganese. Held to the light from different angles it can shift between near-colourless and a deeper pink, a quiet play that suits its gentle character. It is too recent a discovery to carry any ancient history, named only in 1902 after the gemmologist George Kunz, so everything in its metaphysical practice belongs to the modern crystal tradition.
That modern tradition places kunzite at the Heart Chakra of the Hindu and Vedic chakra system, in keeping with its soft pink colour.
Kunzite is turned to for emotional healing, self-love, and the easing of anxiety, valued as a stone that helps a guarded heart feel safe enough to soften. It is associated with calm, tenderness, and the release of worry or social unease, and the tradition reads it as a gentle support for anyone learning to be kinder to themselves.

Our team's experience
Kunzite has one of the more delicate, romantic looks in our collection, that clear pink with faint lengthwise striations catching the light. It feels gentle in a way that is hard to put into words, and people drawn to it are often going through something tender. We offer it to anyone working through heartache, anxiety, or a need to be softer with themselves, and we always mention that it fades in sunlight, so it is one to enjoy somewhere out of strong light.
How our customers use it
Many people keep kunzite close during emotional healing, holding a piece when working through heartache or learning to soften toward themselves. Some keep it by the bed or in a quiet corner for its calming, tender presence, others carry a tumble through anxious or socially daunting days. It tends to suit people who want gentleness from a stone rather than a strong charge, and it is often chosen as a caring gift for someone going through a hard time.
Care notes
Kunzite fades in sunlight, so keep it somewhere out of strong light for the long term. It is reasonably hard (Mohs 6.5-7) but cleaves easily, so avoid sharp knocks. Cleanse it with sound or moonlight, and a brief rinse is fine.
