Properties & Traditions
Now and then we glimpse something of ourselves in another person and need the grace to see it kindly, and mica is a companion for exactly that. It forms in layers and glows from silver to soft gold with a pearly lustre. Its Latin root means a crumb, and it was in our art long before writing: painters of the Upper Palaeolithic sometimes used it for their whites. Much later it glazed windows in Russia, and Elizabethan England called it Muscovy glass, the name behind its most common form, muscovite.
Its place is with the Third Eye and Crown Chakras, the two highest energy centres mapped in Hindu and Vedic thought, where insight meets a wider awareness.
The teaching around mica is about reflection: looking at a situation in full detail until what matters comes into focus, then meeting what we find with an open heart. It suits a quick, curious mind, happy to weigh up several answers and to face the future with hope rather than expecting a repeat of the past. Crystal healing ties it to the body as well, to bright eyes and glossy hair. Its presence is comforting and settling: we hold it close after a relationship ends, and for protection when old wounds are pressed. So when someone near to us shows a habit we know is also ours, we keep a piece beside us, admit it plainly, and give them the patience we would want.

Our team's experience
What strikes us first is how the light moves over it. As it turns, silver gives way to olive and honey gold, and along some edges the colour deepens to amber and brown. Where pieces have come away, the sides climb in small steps and ledges, and for all its soft layering, a good-sized chunk rests heavy and steady in the hand.
How our customers use it
Set mica where daylight can find its edges, on a sunny sill or a corner of your desk, and have it nearby when a problem needs looking at differently, or when you sit in meditation with your attention on the Third Eye. With a piece in your entryway, coming home each evening becomes a reminder that your energy is your own.
Care notes
Mica scratches easily (Mohs 2-4) and its layers part readily, so be gentle with it and don't pick at anything loose. Keep it away from water; sound, smoke or moonlight will cleanse it, and a dry brush clears the dust.
