Properties & Traditions
Kambaba jasper is a deep, dark stone patterned in swirling circles of forest green and black, an unusual look that people find genuinely calming to rest their eyes on. It is reached for in times of anxiety and unease, valued as one of the more soothing of the grounding stones. Despite its name it is not a true jasper but a silica-rich rock from central Madagascar, patterned in swirling green and black orbs; it is widely sold as a fossil of ancient algae, but that has never been established, and we would rather say what is known. Few stones carry a deeper sense of stillness, and much of its settling quality seems tied to that.
Modern practice links Kambaba jasper to both the Root and Heart Chakras of the Hindu and Vedic chakra system, anchoring the body while soothing the heart.
People turn to Kambaba to calm anxiety and quiet a restless mind, its deep, ancient stillness drawn on to steady someone who feels frayed or overwhelmed. It carries the protective, grounding quality shared across the jaspers, here in an especially tranquil form, and is also associated with renewal and a sense of being held by something far older and steadier than the present moment.

Our team's experience
Kambaba jasper has a look unlike anything else in the cabinet, those dark green orbs and swirls that seem to move the longer you look at them. People often go quiet when they hold it, which tells you most of what you need to know. It feels deeply settling, almost meditative. We find ourselves reaching for it for people who are anxious or stretched thin, and we love telling them what it actually is, the fossil of some of the earliest life on the planet.
How our customers use it
Many people keep Kambaba jasper for anxious or overwhelming stretches, holding a smooth piece during slow breathing or meditation to settle a restless mind. Some keep it by the bed or on a desk as a calming, grounding presence, others carry a tumble through stressful days. It draws on the steadiness common to the jaspers in a particularly soothing form, suiting people who want a stone to quiet the nervous system rather than energise it.
Care notes
Kambaba jasper is hard and durable (Mohs 6-7) and easy to care for. Cleanse it under cool running water or with sound, and let it rest in moonlight or on the earth to refresh it. It is stable in normal light and comfortable with everyday handling.
